5. Where do you draw your songwriting inspiration from?
I have an amazing wife and a perfect little girl, and while they are the inspiration behind some of my songs, I also pull from the experiences of my friends too. I’ve seen them struggle through breakups and relationships, and I’ve used my music to tell some of that. I really just pay attention to everyone around me and if I’m inspired, I write about it.
6. Who are you most excited to see perform at The MusicFest?
I can’t wait to watch the Tribute to Cody Canada and the music of Cross Canadian Ragweed. Ragweed was the first Texas/Red Dirt band I listened to, so getting to hear Cody sing my all-time favorite songs will be a highlight for sure.

8. What is your favorite part about live shows?
My favorite part about the live shows is hearing the crowd sing the words to my songs back to me. It’s something I’ve dreamed about since I was a kid, and to hear that happening now, means the world to me. We’re definitely extremely blessed to have amazing fans!
9.Which of your songs means the most to you and why?
The two songs that mean the most to me are Josie’s Song and Curse October.
Josie’s Song is one I wrote about finding out I was going to be a dad when I was 18, and all the emotions of that. It’s a song that will always hold a special place in my heart.
Curse October is definitely the hardest song I’ve ever written. I tried to write it a thousand times before, but it never would come outright. One night I was up late writing and it was getting close to October which is the month my dad passed away, and his birthday too, so it’s a hard month. I had a lot on my mind and it finally all poured out into this one song. I’ve had hundreds of Texts/Dm’s/People at shows come up to me with tears in their eyes telling me how thankful they are for that song and how much it has helped them through their hard times. It’s definitely one of the most meaningful songs of mine.
